DALVIM is a focused digital product studio. You brief the people who design and build the product — there is no layer in between.
(a)The approach
Good software comes from understanding the problem better than the brief describes it. So we spend the first part of any project asking questions, then keep asking them while we build.
Staying focused is a deliberate constraint. Fewer projects at once means the person who understood your problem in week one is still the person shipping in week twelve.
(b)What we hold to
Design and engineering values.
- Decide early, cheaply
- The expensive decisions are architectural. We surface them at the start, when changing our minds still costs nothing.
- Design the whole state machine
- Loading, empty, error, offline, too much data, too little. The polished screen is the easy part.
- Write code someone else can read
- Typed, conventional, boring where boring is correct. You should be able to hand it to another team.
- Measure before optimising
- Performance work follows evidence, not instinct. Same for features.
- Say what's true
- Honest timelines, honest trade-offs, and a clear no when something isn't the right call.
- Finish things
- Launch is a milestone, not the end. The weeks after release are where products get good.
